FROM www.app.com:
The recently opened Two River Theatre in Red Bank soon may be known as much for hosting famous pop musicians as producing classic theater pieces.
At 7:30 p.m. July 11, Jon Bon Jovi will follow in Bruce Springsteen's footsteps by giving an acoustic performance at the 349-seat theater as he revisits his musical and acting career. A question-and-answer session will follow the performance.
Tickets are $500 on a first-come, first-served, nonrefundable basis. To purchase tickets, call (732) 345-1400, Ext. 810. Credit cards only are accepted.
The money will benefit education programming at the theater.
In early April, before the $15 million theater officially opened, Springsteen filmed a VH1 "Storytellers" episode that aired on the cable channel. In this case, Backstreets magazine and Backstreets.com, a media outlet for Springsteen fans, held a contest in which winners would receive tickets to attend the taping.
Bon Jovi, who lives a few miles from the theater, has faith in its future.
"This facility is here to showcase and inspire that next generation," Bon Jovi said in a news release. "With the help of the Two River community, I hope to help raise the funds to facilitate Two River Theatre's wonderful programming for children."
