Without doubt one of the best ever!!!
This is my second review now. I decided to make one for every record, but this will take some time, because there are many and I'm not writing a review before not listening to every song carefully! :-)
Same as with SWW I'm doing a track by track review:
1. LAY YOUR HANDS ON ME:
I love this intro and I love this song more and more. Bombastic opener! 10/10
2. BAD MEDICINE:
It's a really good track, makes me feel good, but I think that I've somehow already heard it too often, so it gets 8/10.
3. BORN TO BE MY BABY:
Already loved it at the first listening, but after having heard it live this year I love it even more. 10/10
4. LIVING IN SIN:
Wow! This is without doubt one of my all time favourites. Very emotional ballad with fantastic melody and lyrics. 10/10
5. BLOOD ON BLOOD:
A good track. I especially love the part "and me I'm just a singer here in a long haired Rock n' Roll band". That is so cool, "just" a singer, lol! But as a whole I give it 8/10.
6. HOMEBOUND TRAIN:
I don't know, why I never liked that song. For this review I've now listened to it carefully for the first time. I don't like the chorus too much, but as a whole the song isn't that bad! 7/10.
7. WILD IS THE WIND:
When I first heard that song on a tape from my brother many many years ago I thought: "Hey, that's a great song and I know this voice from somewhere. Could it be that this is Bon Jovi?" I went to my brothers room, took all his BJ-CDs and searched for this title - and yes, it was Bon Jovi! This is one of these songs that have this certain something, I absolutely love it! 10/10
8. RIDE COWBOY RIDE:
What a pitty, that they didn't give us a longer studio version of it. It's very good! 10/10
9. STICK TO YOUR GUNS:
Yeah, this cool cowboy-style that I also love at Wanted Dead Or Alive. Give me more of Richies guitar, sooo great! Love it! 10/10
10. I'LL BE THERE FOR YOU:
And again one that I absolutely love! And these lyrics: "... when you breathe I wanna be the air for you ...". Incredible! 10/10
11. 99 IN THE SHADE:
This isn't one of my faves, but it's ok, same as Homebound Train. I somehow always left those two songs out, now I just have to listen to them more to get used to them. 7/10
12. LOVE FOR SALE:
I always see Richie and Jon making fun when listening to it. Makes me smile! :-) Great track! 10/10
I love this album! It's really a masterpiece and my fave besides of These Days. There's not even one track on it that I don't like. And my deepest respect goes to the guys for making such an incredible record after their big hit SWW and a huge world tour. Very good work! Back in 88 I think that it was the best way to prove that they are more than Prayer and Bad Name.
