"New Jersey" Review 12 April 2001
Bon Jovi's Best Album Ever

A review by Christine / Kira1214@hotmail.com

1. Lay Your Hands On Me

A great song, Jon's voice is incredibly sexy. The only thing that I don't like that much is the long opening, however, it anticipates me to hear the song, so it's okay.

2. Bad Medicine

This is classic 80's rock. I really like this song - the kind that gets everyone pumped up in concert.

3. Born To Be My Baby

I heard this on the radio once and I instantly loved it. The opening "1, 2, 3, 4, na na na na na na..." is great. I love the lyrics - "Table for two on a TV tray, it ain't fancy, baby, that's okay, our time, our way". It has verses that sound like a ballad and a chorus that is hard-hitting rock. One of my favorites.

4. Living In Sin

Another one where Jon's voice is really sexy. Wait, his voice is always really sexy. Oh well. This is a beautiful ballad, one I must listen to whenever I put in the CD.

5. Blood On Blood

A good song. I love the plot and lyrics. The beat is also great. One of the few songs written about friendship.

6. Homebound Train

What can I say? This is not my favorite Bon Jovi song. It's kinda long and tedious and just didn't strike a chord with me. Maybe if I listened to it more, I would like it. It's not horrible, just not that great. Probably my least favorite on this album. Then again this is my favorite CD EVER (no joke), so this song is much better than many other songs.

7. Wild Is The Wind

A beautiful song. Very sweet and sad, written by a great lyrics team (Jon, Richie, Desmond Child, and Diane Warren).

8. Ride Cowboy Ride

This is one of my favorite Bon Jovi songs. The emotion in Jon and Richie's voices is quite evident. You can't listen to this song quietly, so turn up the volume!

9. Stick To Your Guns

This is my personal theme song for life. One of my top 4 Bon Jovi songs, with "Someday I'll Be Saturday Night", "Always", and "I'll Be There For You". It's a really lyrically amazing song.

10. I'll Be There For You

Wow. That's really all I can say. This one makes me cry every time I hear it. A beautiful, amazing, wonderful, deeply sad song.

11. 99 In The Shade

Why this song follows "I'll Be There For You" I'm not sure? It's a huge jolt from an extremely sad love ballad to this great rock song about summer in Jersey. I REALLY like this song a lot - it makes me want to be 17 in Jersey in the summer of 1986. This is the song you play very loud in your car with all the windows down in the middle of summer.

12. Love For Sale

My favorite part of this song is the end conversation between Jon and Richie - it cracks me up every time I hear it. It's a very unique song, and a good one as well. Very funny.

**

I believe strongly this is Bon Jovi's greatest album. Just looking at the hits on it: "Lay Your Hands On Me", "Bad Medicine", "Born To Be My Baby", "I'll Be There For You", it's classic eighties' nostaliga. This was my 2nd Bon Jovi album, after Cross Road, and it's still my favorite. Everyone who doesn't have this should log off the internet and go buy it! This album is a perfect 10/10!
