"Slippery When Wet" Review 7 July 2001

Great Rock

A review by Johannes

Hey BJ-fans,
lately I read some negative reviews of BJ albums on this site. That's what made me giving SWW a review it deserves since it really is one of the best and most important rock albums ever, though it's not my fave BJ cd. Anyway, here's my review:

LET IT ROCK:
Great opener for the album. Maybe the guys should open their shows with this song sometimes after the OWN tour...
9/10

BAD NAME:
The masterpiece of 86 and still rocking today, what else can I say????
10/10

PRAYER:
The first appearance of Tommy and Gina; a song for every BJ-fan-generation as It's My Life is kind of the 2000 Prayer-version.
10/10

SOCIAL DISEASE:
Well, not one of my faves, rocking chorus, but weird intro that doesn't fit the song, little strange...
6/10

WANTED:
THE western song. No other cowboy song will ever top it. 10/10

RAISE YOUR HANDS:
Great to hear it live this year, a happy rock song, written for the audience I think, makes the audience getting wilder, Raise your hands!
8/10

WITHOUT LOVE:
Wonderful song about love, nice melody but still rocking, typical BJ 80's sound.
8,5/10

I'D DIR FOR YOU:
Sounds like Runaway, seems to be the SWW "Born To Be My Baby". Really rocking, the live version is even better.
9,5/10

NEVER SAY GOODBYE:
Because of the title it would have been perfect as the final song on this album. Great ballad.
9/10

WILD IN THE STREETS:
Fun-rock. They were and still are wild in the streets.
8/10

In my opinion this is a review the album deserves. It's really good, but not the best, because if BJ had released Social Disease instead of Bad Name (for example) they never would have become that big. So it's not perfect like other BJ cds, but it's an extraordinary rock album.

Rating: 9/10
