"One Wild Night: Live 1985-2001" Review |

Best performances
surely this cd could have been longer with more of their greatest hits
When i heard that my all time favourite band were releasing a live album i thought "wow!" and i got it on the day that it was released. i listened to it straight away and i thought that the first 5 songs were incredible but after this the album started to go down-hill. following an amazing version of "someday i'll be saturday night" was a cover of "rockin' in the free world" which is not even a Bon Jovi song. later on came "i dont like mondays" complete with less than perfect vocals from sir Bob Geldof. this was yet another song that Bon Jovi had covered.
It was supposed to be an album featuring hits from 1985-2001, in fact most of the songs seemed to be taken from last years "crush" tour and some were even from the same arena. none of the hits were taken from the "slippery when wet" tour or the "new jersey" tour.
also if these were their best performances then why were songs like "raise your hands", "wild in the streets" and "lay your hands on me", songs that they do at every live performance, not featured on the album? however songs like "just older" and "something to believe in" were on the album and i would not really consider these classics. Bon jovis biggest selling single "always" was not on there either neither were any of the classic ballads such as "bed of roses" or "i'll be there for you", the list is endless. Maybe it would have been a better idea to release a double cd with more of their hits?
on a good note though there is that storming version of "wanted dead or alive" with Jon and Richie trading vocals on the last verse. This song took my breath away as did "it's my life", "livin on a prayer" and "you give love a bad name" if u close your eyes you can almost see the guys on the stage and the massive corwd singing along.
was this album just a way of making some money? if it was it must've worked because the album got to no.2 over her in the uk chart.
not bad but it could've benn way way way beter guys.
