"One Wild Night: Live 1985-2001" Review 23 October 2001

A review by Bryan / Bryan_20011@lycos.com

A live album, a concert in full i thought, maybe it was one I went to?? Why was it not like this?? I thought the whole point of a live album was that it was a recording of a show. But instead it is songs played from different shows throughout the years. As a massive Bon Jovi fan I bought the album anyway, the day that it came out, like I have all the rest, and guess what, I LOVED IT!! I know it's taken a lot of critisizm, and most of it has been fair cos there's loads the guys could have done with this, but, for what it was, it was brilliant.

*It's my life :- performed pretty much in the same way that
it appears on Crush, like most new songs
are, but that was ok. 10/10

*Livin' on a prayer :- this is always great. Here is no
exception. 10/10

*Bad name :- the way this is mixed in from prayer always
gets me going when i see the gigs, although
i do prefer them to finish with prayer, but
to mix the two is the best way to perform bad
name. 10/10

*Keep the faith:- one of my favorite songs when performed
live. real live energy. 10/10

*Saturday night:- By far the best performance on the album.
Not the best studio song, but this makes
up for it. The only time i ever heard it
performed better was at MK bowl this year.
156/10

*Rockin' in the free world:- Good song, but why???? 7/10

*Something to believe in:- Jon's voice doesn't sound too
good in this one, but it has a
good ending. 8/10

*Wanted dead or alive:- There's not too much you can say
other than classic. 10/10

*Runaway:- I'm glad to see they included some earlier songs
This was what started it all. 10/10

*In and out of love:- Again older stuff, cool, but hate
this song, however, this live
version is 10 times better than the
original. 10/10

*I don't like mondays:- again, good song but why???? This
was released on the these days
limited eddition album, so i can't
understand why they have released
it again. 8/10

*Just older:- This is a great song, but i think it will be
better live in a couple of years when the
guys are more used to it and might do a
couple of different things with it. 9/10

*Something for the pain:- I really like this live, it's a
shame they don't seem to play it
much any more. 10/10

*Bad medicine:- This is always a great live song, but where
was shout???? it's not a Bon Jovi concert
without shout being added onto the end of
this song, it's really obvious this has
been edited. 9/10

*One wild night:- Added on to the end of this album, this is
the single version. i love it. a lot of
critisized it for being too much like pop
music, but i think it just shows that a
band like Bon Jovi can adapt and move with
the times. 10/10

This really should have been a double album as there are loads of songs Bon Jovi perform live that i would want to hear on here, like:-

*Lay your hands on me
*Captain Crash
*Wild in the streets
*I'll sleep when i'm dead
*Always
*Bed of Roses
*I'll be there for you (in my opinion their best live song!)
*These days
*In these arms
*Hey god
*Blood on blood
*Raise your hands
*Born to be my baby
*and of course Dry county.

what do the rest of you think about these additional songs??
