"One Wild Night: Live 1985-2001" Review 11 March 2002
It's gonna be One Wild Night!

A review by The Walrus

One Wild Night

This was the first BJ album that I got, and I have to say it changed my life for ever! From the opening talkbox of 'It's My Life' to the fading out guitar at the end of 'One Wild Night 2001', this album rocks!

The choice of songs is very good. This is meant to be like a 'Best Of BJ Live' album, so it makes sense that the most well known and most rockin' songs are played! The reason that they don't have songs like Always and I'll Be There For You is that the theme of this album is pure 100% rock.

It's not perfect though. Some of the songs are cut, like at the end of 'Livin' On A Prayer', and hardly any of the songs are improvements over the original. That said though, 'Someday I'll Be Saturday Night', 'Wanted Dead Or Alive' and 'Something To Believe In' are breathtaking, and 'Livin' On A Prayer', 'It's My Life', 'Keep The Faith', 'You Give Love A Bad Name', 'Bad Medicine' and 'One Wild Night 2001' are all brilliant as well. Some of Richie's guitar playing needs to be heard to be believed, although some of Jon's vocals aren't as good as they could be. Making up for that though is Richies vocals, especially on 'Wanted', where he and Jon sing seperate lines.

'Rockin' In The Free World' is also a great rockin' song, but I don't think 'I Don't Like Mondays' was all that good, although I suppose it was one of the most memorable live moments, so deserves to be on the album.

Overall, One Wild Night is a great live album, and I recommend it to any Bon Jovi fan.
