"One Wild Night: Live 1985-2001" Review 24 June 2002
ONE WILD NIGHT - YES IT IS, BUT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER

ONE WILD NIGHT WITH THE KINGS OF ROCK & ROLL

A review by JÖRG "THE JOVI VOICE FROM AUSTRIA" VESELKA / joerg.veselka@aon.at

Hello everybody !!
Here we have the first BON JOVI Live record since their first album "bon jovi" back in 1984! First of all itīs a great rocking album with many great BON JOVI tunes on it, but it could have been better. why ? first, just 1 CD, a band like BON JOVI had lotīs of LIVE-material to put on a live-album. and of course i miss a lot of classic BON JOVI tunes, like "born to be my baby" "blood on blood" "this ainīt a love song" "sleep when iīm dead" "livin in sin (aith this a dream had come true) and of course "Iīll be there for you" "these days". But, now my review of "OWN LIVE 1985-2001":
Here we go:

"ITīS MY LIFE"
donīt get me wrong, ITīS MY LIFE is a great song, and i love it, but i know much powerfuller live versions of this song, z.b: wembley 2000 or Austria 2000 (zeltweg). in this version i miss the croud out there. you hardly couldnīt here anybody clapping their hand or singing alon this the guys. but anyway, itīs live, and the band playīs live.
so (7/10)

"LIVINīON A PRAYER"
a lot of people think that the "crush show in zürich" was a little bit weak. i donīt think so. great version of the biggest bon jovi classic. love it
(9/10)

"YOU GIVE LOVE A BAD NAME"
i like this song even more than "prayer". the live version of "bad name" is so powerfull so loud and so catchy. I love to hear the croud singing the verse.
(10/10)

"KEEP THE FAITH"
this version of "faith" is not the best you can hear live.
i have a lot of different versions of this song, z.b.zürich 1993, and they are much more powerfull and louder played.
(7/10)

"SOMEDAY IīLL BE SATURDAY NIGHT"
the best version of this song iīve ever heard.
great, wunderfull intro from Jon.
(10/10)

"ROCKINīIN THE FREE WORLD"
great cover-rock song of neil jung, but i think BON JOVI
shouldnīt put coverīs on their album. instead they should had taken "These Days". but the song is not bad.
(8/10)

"SOMETHING TO BELIEVE IN"
a masterpiece from the "these Days" record. the live version is even better than the album version. itīs greaat to hear richies voice, and itīs great to hear the croud sing at the end of this classic
(10/10)

"WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE"
for shure a classic from bon jovi, but this version is not the best you can get. the long intro richie played from 1986 since 1996 gives the song his special meaning and life.
but itīs wanted and itīs great
(9/10)

"RUNAWAY"
a great jung JON BON JOVI who is hungry for showing the world what bon jovi are back in 1985. great early live version if this Rock & Roll classic.
(9/10)

"IN AND OUT OF LOVE"
wunderfull, powerfull, loud, screaming LIVE version of this song from "fahrenheit"
the best version you can get from this song, thankīs for this one
(10/10)

"I DONīT LIKE MONDAYS"
hey guyīs, this song was also on the "Something for the pain" single here in europe. why didnīt you put "born to be my baby" instead ? Iīm sorry
(5/10)

"JUST OLDER"
first you should know, i love every single second on "Crush" so i also love the live versions of these songs.
Not old, just older, not bad, just better !!
LOVE IT, I LIKE THE BAD IīM SLEEPING IN *sing sing sing*
(10/10)

"SOMETHING FOR THE PAIN"
not that bad, but not that good, itīs a funny catchy rock song.
(8/10)

"BAD MEDICINE"
i love the live version with "shout", and in this version "shout" is missing that much, that i hardly canīt here this version.
(7/10)

"ONE WILD NIGHT 2001"
i peronaly think that the Crush version is better, much more heavier and better, i miss the "na-na-naīs" in this version.
(8/10)

Rating: 8/10
