So, it´s MUNICH again, a little bit of rain again, Jon and the boys in a perfect mood again - seems like business as usual in MUNICH, but it was way better than that. 8.20pm the guys entered the Stage with LOST HIGHWAY and even in the daylight you could tell from the opening song, that the Videoscreens and the LED-Wall at the back of the stage are going to offer a visual blast that night, so U2 can go home and pack their bags. Incredible and a big compliment to the technical crew, but the visual effects never took the attention away from the music, it just pushed the enjoyment further. When they played SLEEP WHEN I´M DEAD and took that little break in the middle, Jon said to Richie that he wantend to sing a perfect Bar-Song and if he got on for him. Richie started YEAH, YEAH, YEAH and sneaked into Duffy´s actuel Top-10 Hit MERCY for Jon to sing - that was just so cool, followed by an excerpt of the STONES Classic START ME UP, after that they returned into SLEEP. Next surprise came along in form of HEY GOD which is just a perfect live song. During IN THESE ARMS David got to sing the first verse and chorus - incredible.
MEDICINE was again ( too good and never boring ) by SHOUT, PRAYER ended the regular set. The Band returned with - unfortunatly - a very lame Version of I LOVE THIS TOWN, followed by the livekiller TWIST AND SHOUT and WANTED. After that the band was about to leave, but the crowd was so nuts, the got back to the Instruments and did BLOOD ON BLOOD which ended the show after 2hrs. 45 min. Great show, great crowd, everything perfect, the only thing to give bad critcs is to me the fact, that they just don´t find a way to present new Tracks - like the great WHOLE LOT OF LEAVIN - in a stunning, powerful way. Only the great WE GOT IT GOING ON can compete with the older stuff, in points of powerful presentation. Apart from that, a stunning night, and my 40th BJ Show. Looking forward to
Stuttgart!
