Bon Jovi Rock The Gelredome Stadium
The place was set at the Gelredome Stadium in Arnhem, the Netherlands. Performers were New Jersey band Bon Jovi. The goal was to rock the stadium.
Taking off with the prophetical "I Believe", the band embarked on a ride that made the whole stadium fly and not come down for the next three hours or so. Hyperactive lead singer Jon Bon Jovi managed to get everyone in the stadium swing to their bones, clap their hands till they bled and sing their vocal cords out to pay the five-some the respect they earned over the past 16 years. Mixing long-standing hit songs such as "Bad Medicine", "You Give Love A Bad Name" and "Livin' On A Prayer" with tracks from the latest album Crush, provided the basis for the wild night.
Above all, Jon proved to be a great entertainer. Greeting his long lost buddy Captain Crash and talking about knocking down Mr Hollywood's door was like listening to a dyed-in-the-wool cabaret star. And if the singer-slash-actor ever decides to follow yet another path, he would be welcomed by any footballclub in the country because of his remarkable example of controlling an oversized football.
Pretending to have left twice during the show and having returned both times to give the public even more ("Don't you have work tomorrow?"), the inevitable end was introduced by the ballad "Thank You For Loving Me". As the ever good-looking singer left the stage, the stadium landed softly and this particular member of the crowd turned her eyes towards the sky, thanking whatever is up there for this night of sheer brilliance.
