2 September 2000 - Bremen, Germany Concert Review 3 September 2000
nice one...but

A review by thoschi / thoschi@internet.lu

It was really a brilliant show, that roughly 45000-50000 saw yesterday at the Weserstadion in Bremen. At 18.00 the Allternative Allstars hit the stage and they did a great job. I think most of the people liked it (Shalalala...) and were warmed up by a young and fresh and dirty rock band. They were followed by Toploader. Sorry, I am shure they have their fans and they love them, but I have never seen such a bad support act for a Bon Jovi concert. I loved H-Blockx at the last tour and even BillyIdol was better in 1993. This gig was a mess. No structure in the songs (sometimes I had the impression that the band was playing different songs at the same time). I think most of the people prayed, that heavy rain might stop that perfomance (unfortunately the sun came out). But after 30 or 35 minutes the pain was over.

Bon Jovi rocks, so I think it would have been better to choose a rock band as a special guest to heat up the people...anyhow...
At 20.20 or so, Jon and the boys started with "I believe" and from that minute on the stadium rocked. It was a perfect show. The crowd was really incredible. I think Jon's voice has suffered a little bit and it was not that powerful than in Essen. I can not remember the whole setlist, but they I think It's my life, Bed of roses, Someday I'll be, Living on a prayer, where the highlights
a 2h45min show. I wished they would play more songs from "these days" or "always"..but ok. I think they can not play 4 hours (hey...why not..???)

I hope they change a little bit the show, when they rock Europe the next time, because I think it was more or less they same as on their last tour and they have only added the new songs. So everything was more or less predictable and there were no big surprises. I have seen them several times during the last years and sometimes you really knew what is coming next. (especially the notorious "good-bye after "Shout"...Hey Jon...haven't you said once "when you spit you better mean it"? everybody knows, that a BonJovi show is not over after Bad Medicine / Shout.

Anyhow...It was great and I think (and hope), that we will see them very soon again.
