2 September 2000 - Bremen, Germany Concert Review 5 September 2000
What a great Richie

A review by Markus Jungermann / justme@mjungermann.de

After this excellent show in Bremen it was nice to notice that the "undiscovered soul" of Bon Jovi – Richie Sambora – is still one of the hottest men on the guitar. Me and my friends where very impressed of his emotional and powerful kind of playing. Three weeks before, when I saw the guys rocking in Essen, he seemed a little bit tired. But last Saturday in Bremen we met again the good old (not old … just older) Richie.

But what about the rest of the band !

In contrast to many other reviews I read here, I admired their variable kind of celebrating every scene different and new. I like the moments, when the crowd knows what to do (e.g. Jon: "shot through the heart and you're to blame, darling you give love …" and the crowd: "…a bad name!!!"). It's not boring, for me it's a little bit like coming home. The new CRUSH-songs fitted like gloves in the whole program. A very special moment for me was when Jon told us about his life in Hollywood and his experience of making movies an how Richie, David and Tico turned him back to basics. I went down on my knees when he played "Jersey Girl", I guess a dedication to one of his biggest idol Bruce Springsteen.

All in all I would say that in spite of the rain I saw my second (of seven) best Bon Jovi concert. Perfect lightshow, perfect sound (just 10 seconds missed). At best topped in 1995 at the same place, when the guys rocked with Van Halen, Ugly Kid Joe and Little Steve.

Hey Fans … say it isn't so !

Markus
