28 July 2001 - E. Rutherford, NJ, USA Concert Review 29 July 2001
One Wild Last Night!!!!

A review by Jimmy Luciano / JimmyL2113@yahoo.com

Wow! That pretty much sums up the last show of the OWN tour in the meadowlands, NJ. I've been to quite a few homecoming shows here in my hometown of New Jersey, but this show would have blown the roof off Giants stadium had there been a roof! I have never heard a louder audience in my life, my ears are still ringing thanks to the girl seated just behind me! The guys opened up with an impressive performance of the song "One Wild Nght" which got the crowd really wound up, Raise your hands was next, and sent the crowd into a frenzy. Bad medicine, Lay your hands on me, Wanted, were particular standouts. The one song that just seem to capture the moment though was I'll be there for you. The audience was just belting out the song, and during the climax of the song.....you know the wooo ooo ooo part, Jon, stood back, closed his eyes, and just took in the feedback. He truly seemed awe struck...The night took a shocking turn when Jon called out former bassist Alec John Such to play a song..The audience went crazy it was so good to see Alec, very nice surprise.

The guys covered a few classics as well, twist and shout, and tequila... Nobody wanted this night to end, the guys made several encore performances, the crowd just would not let him go, finally Jon had to say goodbye, and ended the night with never say goodbye. The skyscraper stage setup was impressive, as well as the pyrotechnics. The only thing that diappointed me was when Richie played one of his solo songs, Stranger in this town, a good part of the audience headed for the refreshments/restroom during this time.He did a great job with it, half the crowd missed it though. Just seemed pretty disrespectful to me, but other then that, it was a perfect night. Thanks to the good ol bon jovi boys band for putting on an impressive show, it was worth every penny of the 75 bucks...

Kudos to Eve 6. and Sugar Ray as well, they did a nice job setting up the night...

Bon Jovi forever...

Jimmy
