27 July 2001 - E. Rutherford, NJ, USA Concert Review 1 August 2001
$250 Plane Tickets $100 Rental Car seeing Bon Jovi Live in New Jersey, priceless

A review by Debbie / debee1015@prodigy.net

I grew up in North Jersey, Bon Jovi is my favorite band of ALL Time, I was denied in '89 to see them in Giants Stadium (is a 13 year old really unsafe sleeping over night outside the box office?? I didn't think so, of course Mom had some other ideas...) I was not going to be denied in 2001.
I travelled Over 1000 miles for this show on my own. The only way I was going to be dissapointed is if Jon walked on stage and dropped dead, at which point I would burst into tears, climb to the top and throw myself to the ground below.

No seriously...
I live in an area where they don't play Bon Jovi, and for me no matter what they played was going to be great. They didn't even make it to my area for shows in the last, now it's going on 6 years!

Did I want to hear some songs that they didn't play, Of Course. But when you have all the albums, have many of the obscure singles, and know the words to all the solo albums... well no matter what happens you're going to say... 'I wish they played.....'

All I know is that for two and a half hours last Friday night I was singing and dancing to my favorite band, and they weren't to far away.. and I smuggled my camera with the telephoto lens in (Take that Giants Stadium Security!)
Yes the t-shirts were expensive, yes we had to be subjected to "Eve Sux" (as the drummer's drum kit said) and Sugar Ray (Alright they're pretty good actually).

The only thing I regret is that I didn't go to saturday's show.... They played I'll be there for you.... I feel the tears welling in my eyes already. Bon Jovi is one of the best live bands around, and I think they have some of the greatest fans as well. It was like Bon Jovi Kareoke Night at Giants Stadium. It was great! I would do it again tomorrow... if My American Express card will except the strain....

I also enjoyed meeting some great new people prior to the show in the stadium parking lot. As well as afterwards in the same stadium parking lot they looked more like a warzone than a parking lot....

But it was all fun. the show, the music, the parties, the friends, and that's what it's all about in the end....
