15 August 2000 - Zeltweg, Austria Concert Review 3 November 2001
The Greatest Day In My Life

A review by Harry Schauer / harry.schauer@utanet.at

August 15th 2000, A1-Ring Austria - The Greatest Day In My Life

it was my first BJ-show, and it was so much better than i ever could imagine!
its been a hot summer days evening. the sun was shining down on the Formula One-Track, and every one of the fans in the crowd knew, there was something great coming up that day...

after the german support act "reamonn" we had been waiting for the show to begin, a part of the audience (including me) was sitting on that little hill inside the first corner. then the light on stage went dark and i knew, this would be the greatest moment of my life. then we heard that "livin on a prayer"-sound coming out of the dark, the audience stood up from the grass and richie started to do that wah wah-sound with his guitar (i dont know how to explain it better) and jon started to sing. i cant explain, what i felt this moment. i mean, there was
Bon Jovi playing there, i first had to realize that. but then the whole audience started to sing with the band, it was so great.

now, after i saw the show in vienna (June 29th, 2001), i really have to say that the show at the A1-Ring was something special. it was more a "New Jersey"-concert. they played so much songs from this album (born to be my baby, lay your hands on me,...). the show in vienna was
also great, but not as special as the A1-Ring-Show.

they continued with other great songs and an à capella version of “runaway”. that was one thing which made that show something special. jon talked a lot to the audience. about his acting-career and other stuff. then a great performance of "lay your hands on me" followed. it was so exciting.

but the absolute best thing about this concert was: they played "These Days"! These Days is (beside "New Jersey") my fav album and that time i did not know that performances of songs from These Days are so rare. (they only played this song 8 times in the whole crush tour 2000!!!!) and it was the greatest song to finish a concert. "these days" makes the audience feel great and makes them start to think about what a great day it has been and they are thankful for this great show fading out with a song, which really makes you cry, when you hear it live.

i am very proud that i was one of that 50 thousand fans, who saw that great show and the live performance of "these days".

"There ain’t nobody left but Bon Jovi these days"!
