My Dublin Experience- 10th June 2001 - RDS Arena

OK, so I thought they could never top 2000's Dublin show, despite the rain, the thunder and the lightening it was an amazing evening! But then I realised that this was Bon Jovi and they never cease to amaze me! Last night was one of the most memorable nights of my life. There was never any doubt that I'd be at the next Bon Jovi show in Dublin, but I never in a million years imagined that I would be one of the people who got to share the stage with the Best Band in the World. Just over a week before the show I was a lucky winner of two onstage passes thanks to a local radio contest. I always thought it'll never happen to me......well it did and when show-day arrived the excitement was unreal lol!
We met at 7.50pm not long before showtime at the backstage entrance and both myself and my friend Norma couldn't believe the time had finally arrived! OWN kicked off the show and it was pretty much torture as we could hardly see from where we were standing! But , during the third song we were escorted though the Backstage area where we saw Jon's wife and kids playing lol! After a short wait, we were on! We were first on stage and made it to the front of our group. We could see every member really well, apart from Tico who was somewhat hidden behind those drums! Slowly the band came to realise the new additions to the stage and the fun began lol! The next thing I know they are starting into my all time favourite BJ song...."In These Arms". We were dancing and singing, looking out at a sea of faces when Jon began the second verse! Slowly but surely he started heading in our direction! We sang even louder and danced some more and he came closer still! I thought, this is my only chance so I held out my hand and he took it, gave the biggest and greatest smile you've ever seen and sang with me! lol What great eyes he has! :) Hehe

We fast approached Cloud Nine but then came to the realisation that we had still at least 2 more songs on stage lol Living on a Prayer followed along with Born To Be My Baby! It was the most fun to be up there......all the band were in fine form throughout the show.......and the audience gave back 110%!!

When our time came to come off the stage, who should we pass but Matt McConaughey who was standing in the wings! lol
We quickly returned to the pit and enjoyed the rest of the show..............if you were there you will know what a great show it was! The Dublin crowd always rock! The band looked like they were having as good a time as we were!

Thanks Dublin, Cool FM and Bon Jovi! :)

Cya on the road! :)

Nola xx
