8 February 2003 - University Park, PA, USA Concert Review 9 February 2003
What a Kickoff

A review by Marty

Penn State was an awesome atmosphere all afternoon before the concert and I had the chance to meet a ton of awesome fans... On to the concert, The Goo Goo Dolls were an awesome opening act and played an energentic 50 minute set which got the crowd pumped for Bon Jovi. The stage is an amazing sight with 3 enormous satellites that were also the video projection screens. (It's kinda hard to explain, but a picture will make it clear) The setlist was high energy from start to finish and some of the highlites included: You Give Love a Bad Name, Prayer, Runaway, Just Older, a cover of David Bowie's Heroes, I'll Be There For You (Richie on vocals... simply awesome), Saturday Night, and the setlist closer, Born to be My Baby. The encore was nothing short of incredible with It's My Life, Dead or Alive, and rocked out version of Bad Medicine followed by Shout. The crowd was so into it tonight and the band sounded awesome for it's first show back in the U.S. The shows can only get better from tonight (if that's possible) and I hope everyone at PSU had as much fun as me.
