16 February 2003 - Columbus, OH, USA Concert Review 18 February 2003
Onstage experience makes a fan for life!

A review by almost40 / ragdoll45140@yahoo.com

Let me start by saying I had no plans to attend this show but I ended up winning tickets from a local radio station. Friday before the show, the radio station selected a grand prizewinner and I won 6 onstage passes! For 2 days straight I listened to nothing but Bon Jovi CDs to get pumped up for the show. The Level 3 snow emergency in my county almost caused us to stay home but we braved the weather anyway and made our way to Columbus. We met the record label rep at will call who gave us green wristbands and instructions to come down to the soundboard at song 12. By the way, the tickets we got sucked! Luckily a friend who had a suite invited us up for the GooGoo Dolls and the first half of Bon Jovi. Around song 10 we made our way down to the soundboard and were divided into two groups of about 14. We made it to Richie's side and were on stage for Hook Me Up and Raise Your Hands. Jon came by and shook hands / hi-fived each of us. Then Tico slid a drumstick across the floor to my friend. After Raise Your Hands, we were told to return to our seats but we made our way around to the other side of the stage to the 2nd row where we watched the rest of the show. The band rocked the house and despite the extremely bad weather, there was barely an empty seat.

The stage effects were incredible although the satellite dish screens didn't come on until the second song - I don't know if that was intentional or not. I was amazed at how buff Jon was - solid rock! He wore a black Body Glove tank top and sweat through every bit of his black jeans. My only regret was not bringing a camera because I would have been able to get excellent pics! My recommendation to everyone...bring a camera!

My only diss was Jon's political statement before Eve of Destruction. I'm getting tired of celebrities using their status to make their political opinions known.

I'm sure you die-hard fans are sick to hear that a so-so fan literally won such a great experience, but I am now a fan for life and would go again in a heartbeat!
