24 March 2003 - Pittsburgh, PA, USA Concert Review 26 March 2003
Bon Jovi "Bounces" into the Burgh and Extends the Weekend their way!

A review by Stephen Raffa / thorpejr@aol.com

From Ritchie's slashing through the opening chords of "Bounce" to Jon's last words of Shout, I have never seen so much energy from a band. After "Bad Name" Jon hit the mic calling Pittsburgh the "Toughest City In The World" and said he was granted permission by the governor to extend the weekend thru Monday and Tuesday!, and he proceeded to do just that. He let the crowd belt out the openings to the infamous "Prayer" and "Wanted", as well as Dave Bryan's piano intro of "Undivided". About a third of the way into the show he sent a long "Distance" dedication to our men and women in the armed forces fighting overseas for what this country is supposted to stand for. "Those Oldies but Goodies" was how Jon put it as they broke into "Just Older", which really sinks in with the true Bon Jovi Fan. Another highlight in show was of course Ritchie's version of "I'll Be There For You" which excited the crowd as well as showed that Jon wasn't the only one who could move his vocal cords the right way. The set ended with an extended version of "Born to Be my Baby", as the band exited the stage the enormous satelite dishes, displayed artwork from the new "Bounce" CD. Sure enough the boys returned to a roaring crowd, re-assumed their positions on stage and began their encore which consisted of: "Have a Little Faith In Me(John Hiatt cover)", "Keep The Faith", and "Bad Medicine-Shout". I was absoulutely amazed at how much energy the band kept flowing through a near two and a half hour set, and I believe outlasted everyone in the arena. The magic of a Bon Jovi show was by far still alive and well, and in my opinion this was a better show than their last trip to the Burgh for the "One Wild Night Tour". So in speaking for all the Bon Jovi fans in the Burgh, Keep Up The Hard Work Boys, your always welcome here!
(The girl whom I went to the show with was a moderate Bon Jovi fan, and after the show she was absolutely blown away by their performance, and thanked me for making her a rampid Bon Jovi fan, just shows the magic of BON JOVI LIVE!) They are without a doubt like a "Fine Wine That Just Keeps Getting Better All The Time!!!"
- Keep The Faith, Steve
