Bon Jovi still knows how to rock!
I couldn't disagree more with Kurt's review, except that I expected a few surprises, too. This was, after all, a homecoming for the boys. All in all though, I must say this show was AMAZING. They played for over 2 hours and there was so much energy on stage, I got tired before they did. The lighting effects were classic Bon Jovi style and towards the end, a shower of silver confetti poured over the crowd from the ceiling. Given the amount of time they played, they picked a great setlist. I would have loved to heard "Never Say Goodbye", "In These Arms", "Bed of Roses" and many others, but with so many great songs, I'm sure they had a tough time choosing. They did fantastic versions of "Lay Your Hands On Me", "I'll Be There for You", and "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead". "Thank You for Loving Me" sounded better than it does on the CD and "Bad Medicine", "Keep the Faith", and "Blaze of Glory" rocked. The conversation Jon had with the little girl on stage was touching, and even though she wouldn't dance with him, he did manage to get a kiss from her.
I enjoyed this concert immensely and even though I have no voice today and I'm achy all over from dancing for 2 hrs. straight, I can confidently say it was all worth it. There wasn't an empty seat in the arena, and it says a lot when a band can lay low for as long as Bon Jovi did, release a new album and sell out an arena in less than an hour. The boys still have what it takes and last night's show is all the proof you need. They announced that they will be at Giants Stadium in the summer and I am already looking forward to that and I'll be sure to submit my review for that one too!
