Just great!
This was a really great concert, even better than the last time in Vienna (2001). A band in the shape of their lifes, an enthusiastic crowd, and even the weather didn't let us down (the forecast said rain and thunderstorms, but all clouds were away when BJ entered the stage, Jon also made a comment about this). The support band "Live" was also quite good.
The set list almost couldn't have been better. Six songs of the great new album "Bounce" (well, I'd have preferred "Joey" and "Right side of wrong" instead of "The distance" and "Misunderstood" but I really don't want to nit-pick this great set list) and all the classic hits I wanted to hear. Prayer, Faith (I'm glad to see this seems to be back as a staple), It's my life, In these arms, Blaze of glory, Raise your hands ... my personal highlight was the performance of the great "Undivided". David's slow intro with the organ sound was exactly what this song needed live. They also showed pictures of New York 9/11 on the video wall during this song. Richie's version of "I'll be there for you" was also wonderful. I believe the final encore "These days" was not planned, but a "real" spontaneous encore because the crowd was so enthusiastic (I see it was also one song more than in Erfurt, so maybe I'm right). What a great night. Let's hope the boys come back for a second European leg. |
