30 May 2003 - Gelsenkirchen, Germany Concert Review 2 June 2003
Not "one of these Nights".....

A review by Karl

As pointed in some statements before, Jon was having a dissapointing time that night for nearly 3/4 of the whole Set. After PRAYER he went to the back of the stage between drums and Keyboads, threw his mikrophone to the
floor, kicked the back of the stage like a nutter and freaked completly out - I guess he realized, his voice problems from
Erfurth will continue that night.
I´ve seen BJ that night the 33rd time, but they never sounded that worse, which was just because of the point,
that the ARENA has to have a closed roof to avoid noise pollution for the neighbours. Springsteen had soundproblems
a week ago as well, so it´s just the venue you can blame, because BJ sound perfectly normally.
Eventhough Jon wasn´t ok that night ( to be honest: If he too sick, to say hello to the audience, they should
postpone the show ) they played a 26 Song setlist, which is ok on one hand, but the songs they played, could
have been different. The NEW Songs came all along VERY, VERY, VERY well, especially HOOK ME UP, personally
i was missing THE DISTANCE. The fact that they still leave out anything from THESE DAYS and FAHRENHEIT
still keeps me upset, especially because, Richie said in an interview a couple of weeks ago, that TD is their
highlight in terms of songwriting so far - nuff said!
I´m glad to have the opportunity to see them in MUNICH again, so I hope, Jon will be fine until then, and they
do what they normally do: Bring a perfect, fun-packed, Rock`n Roll Show to your Town!
