8 June 2003 - Ostend, Belgium Concert Review 9 June 2003
Wild in the streets of Ostend!

A review by any / any.lim@kylie.co.uk

here is the setlist as far as I can remember:
Bouce/Bad Name/Everyday/Keep the Faith/I'd Die for You/The Distance/It's my Life/Wanted/Someday I'll be Saturday Night/Sleep when I'm Dead/Prayer/ Lay your Hands/Wild in the Streets/Undivided/ Blood on Blood/I'll be there for you (sung by Richie)/Born to be my Baby/Raise your Hands/Runaway/In these Arms
Encore:(one of the above, I can't remember which one)/Captain Crash/ Just Older/Bad Medicine

When I heard that Bon Jovi were not coming to France, I was really disappointed. But my sister, my boyfriend and I decided to buy tickets to the nearest country. It turned out to be Ostend, and I must say: NO REGRETS. On the contrary, I'm wondering now why I didn't go to see them in a foreign country earlier. It was the first time I saw them in an open air venue, and I'm more than willing to do it again!!!!!
The show was simply incredible, magical, wonderful, sensational!! The setting was perfect since the race-course was by the sea and I read on the internet that some fans went on the beach after the concert with their guitars to sing some Bon Jovi songs!!
Now for a description of the show itself: I think we were really spoilt with the setlist: they did "I'd die for you" which they told us they hadn't done for 6 years! And for many of the songs they did some extended versions (with great guitar solos!) and added lyrics.
Jon was boucing all over the place, he sang very well, although I believe his voice wasn't at its best. But he gave out a lot of energy, smiling and talking to us. At one point in the show, a crazy fan ran on the stage, but the band stayed cool, and Jon even started joking with Richie, asking if the fan was a cousin of his and wondering if he was having "his ass kicked backstage".
As for Richie, there is no word to describe that man! His fingers are unreal (and sexy, thanks to the huge screen)and he sang beautifully. David played with the camera throughout the show, Tico more the once gave the beat to the band, and Hugh was boucier than usual. All in all, an incredible evening that will fill my dreams for many nights to come!
