28 June 2003 - London, UK Concert Review 29 June 2003
I wish it could never ended

A review by Lyndon B.Jovi / thelastimpactplayer@hotmail.com

Well all i can say is WOW!. Me and my mate got down to hyde park about 12ish, and it seemed like we were queing forever, but now being at the concert, it was really worth it.

We sat down in a good spot, where the people on the stage setting up, where about the size of your little finger, but that didnt matter at all.

Live came on about 6-6:30 (I didnt really look at the time because i was getting drinks and merchandise) I didnt know who they were at first, but by the end of the performance, i will be getting a few songs of theirs soon. They were on stage bout 30-45 minutes, but they did warm the crowd up.

Now it was show time. Live had finished and the main event was suddenly upon us. Me and my mate had been waiting 8 months for this to happen, and oh my god we did not know what we were getting into.

Tico was first on stage, then David and Hugh. Richie next and then Jon. The crowd was very excited at this point. Suddenly Richie started to play the intro to 1) BOUNCE came on and the show had started. This song was played very well compaired to versions i've heard before. When Bounce had finished Jon suddenly shouted SHOT THROUGH THE HEART.... and 2) YOU GIVE LOVE A BAD NAME was played.
After that 3) RUNAWAY and 4) EVERYDAY we played. The crowd were really getting into the concert at this point. Then came the 1st surprise of the night. Jon started to sing the begining of 5) LIVIN' ON A PRAYER, but instead of Richie using the beat box? (i think thats what its called) He started to play the intro with his guitar instead, and the sound of him playing was wonderful.
6) UNDIVIDED was played well, but I couldnt really get into it because I dont really like that song. 7) KEEP THE FAITH was a song i was looking forward to because i'd seen it on the television many times and it sounded good, but for some reason this song just lacked something today, so i was abit dissapointed.
Because i had seen the setlists before on dry county, i sort of had an idea of what song was going to be next, and by god I was right with this one. This was the best version of 8) WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE I have ever heard, so it made up for the dissapointment of keep the faith.
After wanted it was 9) THE DISTANCE and 10) ITS MY LIFE. I had never respected its my life live because it sounded better in the studio, but hearing it live in person, by god it kicks A$$. Then the second surprise of the night. David started playing the notes on his keyboard that everyone knows, yes thats right it was 11) LAY YOUR HANDS ON ME, and by god did it rock.
The next 3 songs were 12) MISUNDERSTOOD, 13) SOMEDAY I'LL BE SATURDAY NIGHT and 13) JUST OLDER. These songs were again played really well and were great to sing.
Jon then introduce Mr Sambora, to the front of the stage and announced he was going to sing 14) I'LL BE THERE FOR YOU. Unfortunatly i saw none of this because the person I few rows infront of me, sat on her boyfriends shoulders, and with me being small, i couldnt see anything which was a shame. Due to that, people soon started throwing bottles at her and she got down very quickly indeed lol. It did sound very good though and I wish Richie could sing more Bon jovi songs, fingers crossed!!.
14) IN THESE ARMS was song very well, with Jon reaching every high note there is that song. Was hoping David Bryan would sing some of it, but he didnt :(. Jon then shouted out 2,3,4 NAH NAH NAH NAH.... and the whole section around us was singing 15) BORN TO BE MY BABY.
16) I'LL SLEEP WHEN IM DEAD with ROCKIN ALL OVER THE WORLD and DANCIN IN THE STREETS (I think) played during the middle of the song. It was really clever how they fitted that together. All i can say is GODS!!
17) RAISE YOUR HANDS was the final song before the encore, and it was a good way to finish off.
They came back on stage and sang 18) I'VE GOT THE GIRL which I didnt have a clue what the lyrics where because I hate that song. Then two treats in a row. The wonderful 19) BLOOD ON BLOOD was played and of course it was played wonderfully. A major shock was seeing Kinks front man Ray Davies. It was great singing the lyrics to 20) LOLA. That song got the crowd very high indeed. Then back to basics to sing the good old combo of 21) BAD MEDICINE/SHOUT.
After this me any my mate were all ready to go home, then suddenly Jon, came back on the stage and talked about how he's gonna have to pay a fine if he doesnt stop singing. The he said the best comment ive ever heard, "f**k it, lets do some more." That got the crowd screaming.
22) THESE DAYS was played great and I now have more respect for that song. Now that ive heard it live, I will finally agree it is a really good song. 23) CAPTIN CRASH AND THE BEAUTY QUEEN FROM MARS was alrite but again its not one of my favourites at all. 24) TWIST AND SHOUT got the crowd moving and dancing everywhere.
Now the crowd was still very hot at this point but the band were getting tired and looked like it was going to be over then, but we where wrong, the boys still had something up their sleeves, and it was the greatest one of them all.
25) NEVER SAY GOODBYE was played with acoustic guitars and it sounded beautful. It was the best song I heard on the night and was also the biggest surprise to because I dont think anyone expected it at all.
The band finally walked of the stage to 92,000 people showing their respect for the band. I seriously hope they consider doing another concert at Hyde Park because it was wonderful.

This was my first ever Bon Jovi concert and will definetly not be the last one I will go to. The boys looked like they were loving every minute of it, because I know the crowd were.

Thank you Bon Jovi for a wonderful night and really hope to see you soon.
