12 August 2000 - Essen, Germany Concert Review 13 August 2000
Good but predictable

A review by Gerd Booten

The concert was verry good in a musical way, but when a band
has a four year break I expect more inspiration.

The same stage, the same comments (are you able to rock-'n-roll, don't you gotta go home or something?), the setlist wasn't spectacular, livin on a prayer and bad name first in the set, I'll sleep when i'm dead again in combination with rockin all over the world, bad medicine again in combination with shout, they played to many new songs, the new songs are not so good and there was a very bad version of runaway.

There where a lot of mistakes during the show, power went of, screens didn't work and the sound wasn't good (I could hear the singin parts very bad). This may not happen with such a profesionals.

For me the show was very predictable without spectacular moments, not in the music or in the show, but they played the music very good. The guitar-solo's where great and the singing parts (for as far I could hear them) where good.
The version of blood on blood for me was the climax of the concert and these days as a great final. But at the last cord of these days there where no fireworks, so nothing spectacular happened at the end, the concert just stoped.
This was a big anticlimax, the fireworks started when the concert was already at an end so it didn't had annything to do with the concert but just was nice fireworks.

It was great to see my heros again, but I hope that when I'm going to see the concert in Arnhem the band has more inspiration.

Gerd Booten, Netherlands.
