Amazing, but something was up
After seeing Bon Jovi on several occasions, I would have to say that I was extremely pleased to be one of the few people to see the limited number of acoustic sets the band has ever played!!!
While their Cincinnati appearance during the Crush Tour was the most personal/high energy show I ever seen hands down, it's difficult to compare the two. The acoustic set was flat out amazing.....I've heard all of their songs live many many times, but had never heard Prayer '94 live or some of the ballads done so stripped down. They translated wonderfully....my ony suggestion would be to hear "Everyday" plugged in. It's a new song from the latest album and I wanted to hear it in it's glory.
While I can see how many of the fair weather fans who wanted to see a great Rock show on a Friday night may have been disappointed by half of the show being accoustic unknowingly to them (The local medai did a horrible show of publicizing this) The Guys where amazing acoustic or electric. I would suggest though putting the acoustic set in the middle, not at the start to harness the full Bon Jovi Live energy!
Jon did seemed a bit different though. He seemed to be a bit pre-occuppied, whether something happened before the show, he had a cold, or there where technical difficulties. He didn't talk much as he usually does and they didn't even play the 2.5 hours that he told the crowd they would. My prediction though is that he wasn't pleased with the response for the acoustic set, which is why they scrapped the format for the rest of the tour. Eitherway, some heads rolled after the show. Possibly some record excecs who talked the band into the acoustic set to start promoting the new acoustic live album.
The Goo Goo Dolls sounded great! It was truly a night full of hits!
I'm thankful we got to see it!
Thanks to the best Rock and Roll Band in the World!!!!
