26 July 2003 - Philadelphia, PA, USA Concert Review 4 August 2003
Closing the Vet

A review by BonJovi4ever / jaxinnj@yahoo.com

This was my 11th Bon Jovi show and probably one of my favorites. The Vet was just about filled and everyone was hyped. The Goo Goo Dolls were pretty good but I think better in an arena. Sheryl Crow really rocked and I would love to see her again sometime. Then before Bon Jovi hit the stage Pierre, from a local rock station, hit the stage and really got the crowd pumped with talks about The Vet's rock 'n roll history. Then little by little, the lights went down 'til the intro music hit. The stage this time around was a lot bigger and brighter. The set list of course doesn't change much but it was still a good one, playing for about 2 1/2 hours. There were quite a few people that ran on stage that night. One he called out during Bed Of Roses and she was a big girl. She ran full speed at him and we thought that she was going to roll over him but he lifted her up and swung her around. It was quite the moment. Then one girl ran on and grabbed Jon when he was about to sing (I forget what song it was) and when they pulled her away she grabbed at Jon and the mic fell. He grabbed the mic and in a split second as it was falling and began singing the intro to the song. It was really funny and Richie was laughing the whole time. The Vet lost their minds when they sung Livin' On A Prayer, which they always do when it's played. Someday I'll Be Saturday Night was great when he talked about being in Philly and the times that he had. The when they did Shout the whole stadium lit up. It was a great scene to see. I sometimes complain about covers but they do really get the crowd into the show. A second encore would have made my night but I know I will get one at Giants Stadium. This was a great show and ashame if you missed it. It was one of those shows that you had to be a part of. Maybe next time you all can witness what a great show they put on. Well, I'll see you guys at GS! :)
