29 July 2003 - Columbus, OH, USA Concert Review 17 September 2003
Best Live Band

A review by CLS

Although it is 3 months later, vivid memories of the BonJovi concert are still crystal clear in my head. Best live band ever, hands down - but not the best concert ever. It was my second BJ show, but not my last. I first saw BJ in March in Buffalo, NY where I live. It was so good here that I knew I must see them again before the go off the road. I scored 5th row in Columbus, between Jon and Richie. The concert was totally different than the first in NY, the first hour being acoustic. It was very personal, but I prefer electric. The band seemed to have some technical problems. Although I didn't think it at first, after reading some other reviews on this site it is very possible that Richie was sick. Johhny R. of the Goos was sick and therefore they didn't preform as openers as scheduled (Go "Sister Flo"...local opening act stepping in to fill big shoes). Perhaps Richie was getting sick too? Jon did seem to bounce back a bit (no pun here) in the late half of the concert, kissing a woman on the mouth who held a sign saying "Lay Your Lips On Me". Jealousy prevailed in my tender heart...but...Anyway, I had my own sign - one that was very very personal to me, in the good old USA colors of RED, WHITE, and BLUE that said "BJ-Thx for helping us all 'BOUNCE' back"...referring to post 9/11 and their music...Richie saw it and smiled right at me. Jon seemed to ignore it. Hopefully it's not because he isn't a nice guy, but rather perhaps it just distracted him. Either way, I don't care, it was one of the best evenings of my life...I am anxiously waiting the next tour.
