2 December 2000 - Los Angeles, CA, USA Concert Review 5 December 2000
A Hot Night For Rock N' Roll

A review by Kevin / perimeter3@yahoo.com

I decided last minute to see the Bon Jovi show at the Forum. My seats were in the rafters, but I still had a decent view of the stage. They entered through the elevator, which I thought was a clever enterance.
They opened with a song I wasn't familiar with (I don't own Crush). Then they launched into You Give Love A Bad Name. They continued with both songs new and old. I was turned on to some of the new stuff, I really got into Captain Crash and the Beauty Queen from Mars. However, I must say, I wasn't entirely satisfied in how they chose their set list. I think they blew too many of their big hits/crowd favorites in the beginning. Jon also needs to know when a story just gets long and boring. There were a few stage raps that seemed to never end. The Forum felt ironically like it was 7800 degrees. It was so damn hot I felt sick. So his random tales between songs seemed like an eternity. Then of course the obligatory encores. One I can deal with, maybe two, but three?! C'mon!

The near-capacity crowd (sorry Jon, it wasn't sold out like you were told - but close) seemed to really enjoy the show overall. Even way up in BFE where I was, there were people dancing in the aisles. I had a good time, but as a whole, it wasn't as good as when I saw them on their Keep The Faith Tour. At least at that show they could afford some pyro!
