15 December 2005 - Montreal, Quebec, Canada Concert Review 17 December 2005
A mistake.....?

A review by Carlos / bacanito@gmail.com

No, I don't mean going to the show! I'm talking about most of the people that were (litterally) seated around me...the mistake was getting crap seats (section 218)...we were a group of 4, and we always go nuts for Bon Jovi, I practically have no voice today, but it's not like I care. The problem was that a lot of people around us were sitting down, looking dumbfounded when Blaze Of Glory came on, for instance...they were really killing the atmosphere...Right above us, there were the "loges", and I think the only time I saw them actually standing up and pretending to have a good time was during "It's my life"...anyhow, enough negativity, onto the good stuff...

It's always great to hear Born to be my baby...Blaze of glory was amazing, I'll be there for you was interesting...Bad Medicine was killer...And the first song i really got into from HAND, "Welcome To Wherever You Are"...that was really cool...I have to say, the way he introduced "Runaway" gave me the shivers...that was really cool to hear. I second the guy who said they didn't play anything off of "These Days", cuz "Someday I'll be saturday night" is one hell of a song live! I'm not too crazy about "Last Man Standing", but they made up for it with others from that record. And of course, one of my all-time live favorites, "Raise your hands". "Wanted dead or alive was, as usual, epic. I was starting to think we would be lucky enough to see a third encore, but I guess I was pushing my luck...All in all, my needs were met, and then some.

Performance wise, Bon Jovi still beats the crap out of most live bands out there, they really know how to get the right people going. I thought it was really cool that he was walking around the audience...i could have done without the camera zeroing in on his crotch, but the ladies clearly enjoyed that. No harm done ;)Jon is that charismatic that he can win an audience over with little or no effort. Richie had a cool outfit, my roommate calls it "Modern Glam" lol Tico just isn't Tico without a cigarette in his mouth, I was relieved when I saw it on the big screen...speaking of the huge screen above the stage , it was a nice addition, but I somehow felt it was like watching a movie with subtitles, even if you try to ignore it and follow the show, you can't help but look @ the screen...but thats a minor detail.

This was my third Bon Jovi show, my first being the "These Days" tour in the old Forum. My favorite still has to be the first one. But no matter what, I always feel that I could have paid more for my tickets and still not have felt bad about it, these guys have ALWAYS been worth the time and money. Now the question is ,"How much longer can they keep this up?"...For many years to come, I hope...these are the guys who guarantee you a kickass time, everytime, even when they've done 2 shows in 2 nights, which is often the case in Montreal.

So this summer, I hear they're coming back, outdoors? Where, like Parc Jean-Drapeau? Doesn't matter, I'm there!

Carlos
