24 March 2001 - Melbourne, Australia Concert Review 26 March 2001
The Boys Rock Melbourne

A review by Mark / markandchriselda@hotmail.com

Excellent show at Colonial Stadium on Saturday night, the boys looked like they really enjoyed getting back on stage after a short break (especially Jon). The energy was incredible and it showed in the music and the crowd reaction. They were quite obviously happy to be back in Australia.

Jon wore the Australian flag as a cape for a song or two and the crowd loved it. One of the highlights of the night was when Jimmy Barnes appeared onstage with Bon Jovi to sing some classic songs. Jimmy is very popular here in Australia, and Jon seems to enjoy sharing the spotlight with him.

The setlist was short because of the time restraints (the stadium was to be used for a Rugby League game the next day), and it was more of a festival type gig. As per their Crush tour the emphasis was on the rock songs more than the ballads but they had a great range of material from their huge catalogue.

I have my video ready to tape the show when it is aired on Channel Seven on the Easter long weekend.

Can't wait till they tour Australia again, they really know how to make the evening enjoyable and memorable.
