12 July 2007 - Edmonton, AB, Canada Concert Review 12 August 2007
Worth the Wait

A review by Lyle / woolysparticus@hotmail.com

It's been nearly 13 years since Bon Jovi last came to rock the City of Champions (that's the name we've given to our town up here lol), but it was well worth the wait. It was my first time seeing the band in concert and it will remain one of the truly grandest and most magnificent experiences of my life. No one can electrify a crowd like Jon Bon Jovi, and the whole performance was the most fantastic display of energy and raw talent that I've ever seen, and I was completely enthralled by it. In short, I loved it more than I can express. I met some great people while I was there, and had an incredible time. I didn't sit down once; neither did anybody else around me. The band played a lot of their new songs, but classics like Livin' on a Prayer, You Give Love a Bad Name, and Bad Medicine stole the show. One of the best parts of the concert was when the band shot back some 20-odd years with a wholly energetic performance of Runaway, and followed it up with a powerful, introspective cover of Halleluja. (I don't have the complete setlist, but i think it's already up here anyway.) It was in this song that Jon's tremendous singing abiltity was truly exhibited - as well as the ability of the other band members - the performances of every band member were spectacular. Like always, they made every person in the arena that night feel welcome and a large part of an immense event during which there were no troubles, no worries, no obligations, and nothing else worth doing in comparison - just great music, great people, and the chance to become part of the legend that is Bon Jovi.
