28 June 2008 - London, United Kingdom Concert Review 30 June 2008
I had fun!

A review by Sal / sal626@gmail.com

Went on sat with my wife and 5 year old daughter, and it was amazing!

We originally had upper tier tickets (row A) which I thought would be a good view but on arrival was told we had to exchange them for other tickets as Upper tier was closed (guess they didn't sell out the 2nd night). But that worked out nicely as we ended up in Lower tier, just to the left of the stage. Excellent view and atmosphere.

We got all the expected hits and a couple of rarities. Never heard Blaze of Glory live before so that was a highlight.

I've been reading the reviews and message board on this site, and while I agree its nice to hear the rarities, I dont think I would ever not go to see them just because the set list is on the "bland" side. Yes, "Lay your hands.." is 100 times better then Captain Crash (and my wife's fav), and I would love to hear "Dry County" and "This ain't a love song" or "Living in sin" live....but just cause they didn't play those, didn't ruin the show.

I guess some of the folks here have been many many times, so maybe they are comparing against loads of shows. I worked in the Middle East for 14 years and never had the opportunity to go see them until I moved back to UK a few years back. Since then have seen them at MK in 2006, O2 last year, and Twickenham this year. They were all fun shows and I guess I dont feel like complaining about anything after my daughter had such a good time...2 of her fav songs are "I love this town" and "summertime", so I was glad they played those....

Just to add, yes, it wasn't sold out and GA only looked about 2/3 full, but it was still a great atmosphere.....and credit to Jon for that. He could have been put off and gone through on auto-pilot if he saw a partly empty stadium. But he didn't....I personally thought it was the best version of bad medicine and prayer I have heard. He really got the crowd going....and while its a not a jovi classic, Twist did have everyone on thier feet....
