6 June 2001 - Amsterdam, The Netherlands Concert Review 10 June 2001
One Wild Night at the Amsterdam ArenA

One Wild Night at the Amsterdam Arena
June 6th, 2001

Stepping off the elevator and onto the stage, Bon Jovi took off to make this one wild night I will never forget.
And even after 17 years, the New Jersey five have still got it. Bringing the Empire State Building as a decorum and showing off his behind at any given moment in time, lead-singer Jon Bon Jovi got the crowd going wild in no time at all. Of course kissing the close-up camera in the middle of the lens, putting his lips onto the big screen, helped a lot.
As did the chosen musical repertoire, consisting of both classics like Livin’ On A Prayer and Bad Medicine as well as newly engineered songs like It’s My Life and One Wild Night. Someday I’ll Be Saturday Night made this Wednesday night feel like one hell of a Saturday night indeed, New Jersey style and all. Covering UB40’s I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You showed just how much Jon’s voice has matured over the many years since that demo in 1984, but the strangest thing happened next. Unable to count beyond 38, Jon confessed that “I may be 39 years old, but I am still looking pretty young”. Which he did, needless to say.
This face in the crowd didn’t want the night to end, not ever, but it did. Bon Jovi got back onto the elevator, off to where they were sent from – up above.
