19 August 2000 - London, UK Concert Review 25 August 2000
I got 2 words for ya: KICKED ASS!!

A review by Nickolai / wanchep@hotmail.com

Well well well! What can I say? Brilliant. That's my second Jovi concert, (Milton Keynes first in '96) and i have to say they were tight (musically), entertaining and wild! Jon was very entertaining and obviously showed that being in the film industry has boosted his confidence by loads! I talk about the band's tightness - this was especially typical in "Shout" where Jon would shake his hip to a great split second ensemble chord. Also when he said he was lazing around at home with a 3 month beard grown, he would hear a knock on the door. He did the action along with Tico hitting that snare drum! Very good it was!

There were only a couple of aspects that I didn't enjoy. First of all that xxx Scottish xxxxx that was standing infront of me smoking NON-BLOODY STOP! Secondly the actual sound mix was not as good as it could have been (IE Richie's backing vocals, Jon's vocals, Hugh's bass, David's keyboards) but perhaps that was because I was at the side and didn't get the full stereo effect of 2 speakers. Also it wasn't very loud. Milton Keynes was ear deafening, but that is understandable because of the surrounding community of Wembley (probably all old people).

The set was standard but i really thought London Calling was very fitting. First of all I thought it was Rocking in The Free World, bit didn't quite catch on until that bit "Live by the river....". The boys caught out 80,000 people as everyone was expecting Living On A Prayer.

Anyway, well done boys and keep it up!

PS Can anyone tell me if Bon Jovi have planned any dates for next year???
