20 June 2001 - Köln (Cologne), Germany Concert Review 22 June 2001
Well worth the lack of sleep and long search for my car!!!

A review by Stefan Wegner / Cryto@t-online.de

Hi everybody!

I planned to take this very special day in my life off.
But I am on a really important seminar, so I wasn´t allowed to. Anyway, as those tickets were in my property for more than 9 months, I was going to give them away. Noone bought them (I was so happy!), so I tried to find a possibility to go there. I just thought about the timetable that day.

I finished my duty at 16:45, ran to my car, drove it all the way home, collected my girlfriend and went on direction cologne. Oh my god, I thought to myself as I got the radio message of a traffic jam of 10 (!) km.
We got through it, a liitle late, but it should fit into my plan, I thought. On the radio a report about the concert was sent, they said that Bon Jovi is starting at 20:30, so I was happy and quite sure, that we´d make it there just in time. But in cologne, many people seemed to be late for this big event and so the roads to the stadium were jammed as well.
We were already late for 20:30, when I went out of my car to see what´s happening on the streets, to find out, why there is such a long traffic jam in a town. I saw many cars, just parked on the road and the embankments beside it. The drivers just went off their cars, not to be late for the concert. So I agreed with other jam-participants, to make it the same way. We just got off the car, locked and left it there! Heading to the stadium in a speed, my girlfriend couldn´t hold, I had to slow down.

Finally we got there, and I heard Bon Jovi already playing "You give love a bad name". We ran to the floor. 15 minutes late, but finally we got there. I was so happy. This was my 3rd concert of Bon Jovi (These Days tour, Cologne in 95, Crush tour, Essen, last year (+ 1 of Richie, Undiscovered soul tour, in Cologne Live Music Hall)). And I think it was more than just amazing, more than words can describe it! BON JOVI rocked 60.000 people, the stadium was solded out! Jon talked to the crowds more than ever, doing some songs he stopped singing, just to hear how the crowds sing the verses and refrains. He never did that on a concert I have been to in so many songs, for so many times! It was ONE real WILD NIGHT!

The first climax of the concert (unusually was, that it had 2!) was BAD MEDICINE, and the audience seemed to need especially that potion, the crowd just went more than wild. The time ran fast, and 2 hrs and 35 mins were gone real fast, but the last song in the 2nd encore, "Livin´ on a prayer" (by the way my favorite song)was played (that was the 2nd climax). The audience was no audience anymore, they all became singers! After twist and shout, the boys went back into their elevator and left to where they came from.

Thank that being, who sent those great guys to sooth our painful BJ-less time for at least a short, but important time of our lives!

After the concert, we went back to the road where so many people left their cars (including me!). I had to search for over 60 minutes from the time the concert was finished. When I had brought my girlfriend home and got back to Münster (the town my seminar is in) again, it was 3 in the morning (I had to get up at 6!). I fell into bed and slept instantly.

What a great night!

Please never stop playing together, although you are doing that for more than 15 years now, and come back on tour as soon as possible!!!

Thanks for listening.

P.S.: ALL GERMANS! LISTEN CAREFULLY! IF YOU WANT BON JOVI TO PLAY MORE SONGS, THEN ASK FOR IT, IN A WAY THEY UNDERSTAND IT! IN THEIR LANGUAGE! Whole germany is shouting "Zugabe, Zugabe" while other countries shout "WE WANT MORE!" And if the germans, don´t shout, they sing songs like "Hey Baby...Ooh, Aah......" Sing something of BJ instead!!!!!
