5 August 2000 - Turku, Finland Concert Review |

One man's show, that's what I'd call it! He was everywhere: singing, shouting, jumping and even dancing flamenco with a rose in his teeth. I know Richie, Dave, Tico and Huey are all great musicians as well but I couldn't help feeling they were overshadowed by the great performance of Jon :).
OK, they started with "Prayer", "Bad Name" and "It's My Life" and got everyone really warmed up. Well, at least I was dripping sweat. I had read these pages so I knew they'd play mostly songs from "Crush" (naturally) and "Crossroad" and I was correct. But what I didn't expect was an accoustic, slow, ballad-type version of "I'd die for you". That's one of my all-time favorites and thus made the special night even better.
After two hours and about 20 songs, they waved goodbye with "Thank you for loving me" and the show was over. I was thrilled and I bet I wasn't the only one. The show had lots and lots of great moments with "Wanted", "Faith", "Two Story Town" etc but the beautiful "I'd die for you" stands out as the peak, as far as I'm concerned. That was magic.
When Bon Jovi comes back to Finland in the future, I will be there. Not necessarily in the first row but I'll be there. Guaranteed. |
