London Calling - Bon Jovi answer
Sitting down and writing this review a week after the Wembley shows, i realise i can only have a few real disapointments.
1. Jon didn't carry out his promise to play until the police came and stopped the show and arrested him (that would have been a great spectacle)
2. The band didn't play more songs off of 'These Days'
But these are all the complaints I can have, seeing as the show on Sunday was the best Rock n Roll show I have ever seen in my life, narrowly beating off the show on Saturday. The slowed down version of Runaway sounded incredible, the songs from 'slippery' and 'New Jersey' sound a sfresh as ever, especially born to be my baby. Richie's solos were brilliant- especially on 'next 100 years' and of course the timeless 'wanted dead or alive'.
Having seen a few Bon Jovi shows, and hearing live tracks, you knew exactly what Jon would say during the songs, and that he says them on every night of the tour, but you still buy every word. This just shows how much you get caught up in the show, and you know the band are enjoying playing to you as much as you are listening to them.
The new songs sounded great, 'its my life' ROCKED, 'one wild night' was great, i didn't really like 'i got the girl' on the album but it sounded amazing, and my favorite song all night was easily the best song off Crush, 'captain crash' which just beat off 'someday i'll be saturday night'
No other band would have been as fitting to play the last show at Wembley, and it was a nice moment when Jon speaking at the point when the band were considering the third encore when he said 'too much history to tear it down, huh?'. I was surprised too hear 'thank you' as the last song, expecting maybe to hear 'always' (or maybe a cover of three lions?!) but it was a great end to a great show and the band had better stick to their promise that it won't be another 4 yeas before they come back here. |
