I don't understand your view - defending a person who was too lazy to type a legible message - one which you yourself didn't see, as it was edited. A person posting such a message is the rude one, not one who'd point it out. Also, we're not trying to be 'cool' but to make this board a place where people from all countries can actually communicate with each other more easily. We've been here for years on this forum and have seen people come and go. The ones who remain are generally the ones who are actually considerate and intelligent and worth talking to.

Well, maybe you should read what you post. You clearly said you DON'T LIKE people who write like that. That is agreeing with us, like it or not.

To answer your question better: Yes, his WAY of telling a person to speak properly...was arrogant. None of this would have happend, had he simply written (in public) something like: "Could you please check your post next time before hitting the send button? Its very hard to read".
I said:
"Learn to use periods and paragraph changes, no one will bother to read one long line of babble."

Not rude at all.

And the writer of the original post has posted since and has used near-perfect English, so most of your arguments have no basis in anything. Maybe you should just let go, you're obviously not going anywhere with this.

My exact sentence was: "However I will agree tho...that I dont like the tendency in peoples use of txt/sms slang language. The worst parts of that includes using z instead of s, spelling things wrong on purpose and in modern young slang and finally..how the nerds online spell (wOOt...hez so gay etc.)."

Now....WHERE do i say that I dont like people who write like the ORIGINAL poster did? Im writing about something completely else. Im writing about a TENDENCY...in peoples language in general in the world, written as well as spoken.

I see two things in that sentence that indicates rudeness rather than friendlyness. The commanding way of starting a sentence with "Learn to.." and secondly the use of the word "babble". A single "Please" infront of the Learn word together with replacing the word babble with a more polite word as "text" would clearly have helped and probably avoided this whole discussion.

In general...just as much as you dont like "lazy" posts, I dont like rude posts. So if you're allowed to post rude posts, I dont see why Im not allowed to be against your posts.

My arguments lives perfectly well. No shit that the original poster betters her english after your insults. Noone wants to relive that again. So in that sense, I guess your mission succeeded.

Well I dont quite get either why you're defending someone who acts rude towards other people - but I suppose we cant all be alike

I think you and Iceman clearly "walk in too small shoes" as the saying goes. The whole concept of thinking people are rude because they write like a lazy person...is simply laughable and over-sensitive.

I can only shake my head at your "we've been here for years" arguments.

I think it's laughable that you think we are rude for pointing out a persons spelling and grammar mistakes.

It's not an argument, it's a fact. I can't think of a single long-standing member of this forum who writes like an idiot.

Again your missing the point. The point is not that you "just" point out a persons spelling and grammar errors. Its the WAY you do it, or Iceman more like. You havent been as rude and smartypants as he has.

Or perhaps he was just trying to raise attention to his very much valid point by being a bit more 'extreme' than most others might.

More a case of people who can't be arsed to type properly don't stick around - fortunately so for us.

However you twist it, it still means you don't like when people write like that. That's exactly what I'm telling people not to do.

Did it ever occur to you that I wasn't trying to be friendly?

Please, cut the crap and show some real arguments. Your posts are getting ridiculous. This "discussion" wasn't about my sentences but people who spell like shit.

As or the words I chose, "babble" was clearly closer to the original text than "text". One long paragraph with hardly any punctuation, line breaks or capital letters is babble.

Fine, feel free. But I'm not "against" anyone's posts, but the way they are written. If you're against my posts, then by all means, go ahead. But _that_ is the behaviour of a "forum cop" to borrow your phrases.

What argument? You have none. Every one you thought you had, have been proven wrong.

If no one wants to post bad posts ever again, that would be great. However, I'm sure people will continue to rape the language.

The board grammar seems to have only been an issue for the past 18mths, I thought the grammar style police force was created to try and get rid of one particular member... but it seems to have got out of hand and is now spreading, its a bit silly , this is a messageboard, not a school lesson. If they dont like the way someone writes they should ignore it , who are they to correct anyones grammar.
