Different names in different companies. Still, I've met no one who actually works IN the business that would say IE is better. Every graphic artist, programmer, designer and producer say it's a lot easier to make pages that work in all browser but IE than it is to make pages that work in IE and others. I don't see why you would want to say otherwise, as there isn't a single thing IE does better than the other browsers. JScript is just JavaScript rewritten to avoid copyrights and ActiveX is one of the worst thing you can do to your computer safety.
I'm not saying IE is better, I'm saying IE is the reality right now. I have yet to see a site for general audience with less than 85% IE share. So, when trying to produce a site with minimal costs, what do you do? Produce it so that it works perfectly in IE - for 85% of people and so-so for the remaining 15% or the other way round? Sure, there are plently of ways to make it render the same way in all browsers, but they also mean larger production costs.

I have yet to see a customer who is willing to close out 15% of potential users.

E-mail standard doesn't have HTML or images in it. It's just text. There are still many offices and many programs that do not open HTML-formatted e-mail. Therefore it's best to stick to text-only mails. Plus, formatting makes mails a LOT larger, thus they take longer to download.

Oh, and there are plain-text emoticons, they're called smilies... You know like : - ) and = ) and such.

Thunderbird i never heard of it . But our office is compeltly depend on outlook express. i know it is venrable to virus and stuff, but we can't do without it. so far our anti-virus holding on.
Outlook Express is the worst, but I think you're using Outlook. It's a lot better although still bad when it comes to viruses.

Ice
Yeah, I'm with Alwyn there. I use Microsoft Outlook and I do like to send HTML e-mails. then I can select the font I want and I can use bold, etc.

Outlook Express is rubbish, but I do like Microsoft Outlook.

Oh, and I do like IE as well and don't see the need to change it. I think for average internet users works pretty well. It does for me anyway
Me too. Most of the time IE is good enough for me and i only use other browsers when i'm having problem with IE.
But now a days we are having big bandwith and big email inbox( yahoo is now 100mb and my rediff email account giving me 2 GB account ). So whats the point in saving bandwidth. I really like it if i can able to desgin my emails more . I'm sure who using formated email never want plain emails again coz problem with plain email is it is just plain and u can't do much in there and u really don't feel the effect what other peson meant with that email u know what i mean.
So now no way i can go back plain emails messaging for sure. And anyway i'm not using outlook for my personal messages and my yahoo account has build-in anti-virus so i don't thing i have to affraid fo anything really.
