the biggest community site of RHCP has been sold for € 160k. However the were allowed (by record-company & band) to post all kind of media links (video, bootlegs etc etc)

it's only worth something if it makes money. if not, no one would pay more than the usual price for a domain address these days, which is around 10$ for 1 year.

incorrect. the domain is an asset which Peter owns and it's worth is whatever value somebody would put on it. it would be whatever the person feels they can make through advertising plus any goodwill that comes with the current site. this would mainly encompass the worth of the X number of users of the board plus the reputation that comes with it (the board is known by the band etc).
