That's a thing that should not be discussed in the Moderator-thread.

I don't like though when people use nothing but foul language. But a well dosed f*** now and then can truely help to emphasise your point.

You are right.

I find it strange that with no hidden agenda you decide to pick this moment to tell me my signature is offensive to you. The words I use are accepted in the daily world press and therefore cannot be considered offensive in general. However I understand there are always exceptions. If you would like to explain how my signature offends you then please pm me with your response or start a new thread in NJB.
I do it here, it won't take too much space.
I picked this moment since I wanted to show that there is always someone who dislikes something you do or say. Still it won't change all to much voicing it. Your signature does not offend me with its words, but to me, it implies that I am wrong not listening to Jesus and that I should though, when it is truely something I don't want.
A discussion about it won't change your or my beliefs, therefore no hidden agenda, just pointing out that feeling offended does not need foul language.

And just to make it clear again: I know that this is not what you are trying to say with your signature. It's what *I* sometimes see in it.

Basically, you don't care what I think of your signature and I don't care what you think of my foul language, when, in addition, it is something I hardly do.

SORRY MESSED UP THE QUOTE BOXES DAWN SAYS

I do care what you think of my signature otherwise I wouldnt have asked. Each individual is responsible for what they read into the meaning of words or sentences, I understand that.

Jesus rocks is as you acknowledge regarding my own feelings towards Jesus. Perhaps you need to look deeper into why my signature provokes such a response in you. If someone wrote the nolans rocks would you suddenly feel wrong not listening to them ?

If what I say makes you think about any aspect of Jesus or any faith within your lives then that is an issue that I hope you and everyone else will deal with in their lives at some point.

Swear words are classed as offensive as they are not allowed on public television or in the press , their meaning is always the same and it does not add anything to any discussion. Most of the time swear words are used on this board because people think it makes them look cool. When in fact if you need to swear it usually has the opposite reaction of trying to hard.

I think swear words bring this board down , it lowers the standard and I personally think it is disrespectful to this board as a whole.

I meant that I cannot make you change your signature and you cannot make me stop swearing (if you're not a mod).

The difference is the little word "too". It makes your sig sound like you are trying to convince me about Jesus. Missionary light so to say.
Plus, I do not feel wrong not listening to him, I feel offended that I oughta listen to him.

I dealt quite a lot with religious stuff. That is what my decision to keep it out of my life is based on.

I already agreed on most parts you say here. Again, I only wanted to show that not only foul language can offend people.
As far as I'm concerned you're welcome to keep your signature and even if you were not welcome I am in no position to tell you what to do.

thankyou for explaining yourself further CC , I do think that we have a right to ask someone to change their lanuage if it is seen as generally offensive.

My signature is a personal opinion , like most peoples opinions on this board in messages.

Swear words are not an opinion they are just foul meaningless words put there to offend or for an ego issue.

I therefore cannot see how you can compare the two in the same cateogory as offensive.

Swear words are not allowed in the public forum and I feel should not be permitted on this board . Obviously this is my personal opinion, but as it is the opinion of most of the public forum of this country to not have swear words forced upon them when reading, I feel I have a right to request that you refrain from using them here. It is of course your personal choice to ignore my request. Rather than attempting to justify swearing in a discussion against my personal signature.

Why generally? Isn't it enough if someone finds it offensive? You're the only one talking about foul language, that doesn't qualify as "generally offensive", does it?

The second paragraph is purely your opinions. These "foul" and "meaningless" words are only "foul" and "meaningness" because of religion. Theses words have perfectly sensible meanings and have been around for ages. The only reason they're considered "foul" is because of the church.

I feel that any and all religious propaganda should also be prohibited, but that's not going to happen, because it's a free speech board. So, as long as you get to say "Jesus rocks", I get to say "****".

So you have a right to ask for something, but others don't? Just because _you_ find something offensive, doesn't mean it is. And just because _you_ find something non-offensive doesn't mean it it.

If I were to have a signature that said "Jesus is a loser and Allah is the only God", would you be offended? How about "**** Allah, Jesus kicks ass!"?

There's more than one side to every story, but I think force feeding religion is much worse than swearing. After all, swearing hasn't killed anyone yet, but thousands have died for religions, including yours.

Hi Ice,

This country and its laws are based on a religion , yes this maybe why people from the church find swearing unacceptable. I am not aware of why exactly swearing is not permitted publicly but there are also a lot of none christians who dislike swearing . For example if you stand in a street and swear at a policeman you will be arrested as it is an offence, if I stand in the street and say Jesus rocks to a policeman whatever his religion I will not be arrested.

If someone wants to write their religious beleifs on this board regqarding allah or any other religion I would not request removal , they are entitled to their opinion. Swearing is not an opinion, it is plainly an offensive word.
