I don't think people should just be suggested though, as they may not want to do it but having been nominated by others may feel a certain pressure to do it. It would be better to have people suggest themselves. I used to want a position on the team but no longer do, as I have just started my own board and have to moderate that.

Most people are from Europe, but that doesn't mean that they always post during "normal" hours. Regardless, the timezone thing is a minor factor, but I do understand why people are mentioning it.
People who are being nominated can PM one of us and tell us that they don't want to do it. I doubt the pressure will get to them. LOL I think that you are making a mountain out of a mole hill. :P

VIP forum is for former mods, like Mike, who have resigned due to time constraints, but will still be able to give advice to other mods regarding board situations. In other words, they lose their "mod powers" but can still access the mod forum where we discuss issues about the board.
