Well this is what the admin panel of a phpBB board (which JoviTalk is) looks like (screenshot taken from my own board):

Nowhere in there is the ability to read peoples PM's. It is possible to reset members passwords, not see them, so you could reset their password, login as them and read it, but I think they'd know something was wrong when they tried to login and their password had been changed.

What do you believe then? Whatever it is if you want to check it out just download and install a phpBB board, doesn't have to be on a site, just on your pc, and run through all of the settings and you will see that there is no way to read peoples pm's and such.

Well there are mods for that and one could read them directly in the database, but that would require way too much time. But only admin could do that, not the moderators.

Well, as Peter already said, an Admin can indeed read PM's.
And then there are also admins who read them and post them on the message board.

Aloha !

I can read all PM's from my board, because I have entrance to my database. It's complete nonsense that no one can read PM's. This is what a lot of people found out at another Bon Jovi fan board when an admin lost his own battle against the users and posted a few PM's on the board.

However, I must say, it's a bit of work to find out who send which PM. Especially when you've got more than 1000 users. But it all depends on which database you're using as well I think.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

PHPbb uses MySQL and it only takes two commands to find out who sent a PM. It takes about 20 seceonds to read the messages and to find out who sent them.

The mods won't be able to do it, but anyone with an access to the database can.
