The moderators are free to use their own judgment when moderating. In some cases all moderators don't share their oponions about what should be deleted and what not, and those cases are usually discussed in moderators-only forum.
I know and understand this, but when several members disagree with the moderators actions that moderator should think if it's right what she's doing. Sambo-Chris did admit she only did it for herself because she felt offended. If I would've felt abused while no-one else thinks I'm abused I've got no right either to delete my topics. Even reporting it to a moderator wouldn't make any sense either.

But thanks, it looks like I won't be banned for this Sambo-Chris, so your threats even make you look more silly than you were. You're saying I'm childish, but you were the one saying you'd report this to Peter. I did it, and now you suddenly say I'm the childish one. What I also find "funny" is that when more people start agreeing with me you disappear from a topic, but when there's comment from people you know which are Jovitalk friends from me, you've got a big mouth.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Sorry that I have to go to bed some time.

And why should I say more when I already have said everything I have to say. I have other things to do than repeating myself again and again.

It's always best to back down when you know you're going to lose...

Things have changed here since a bit of time. Too much fights or just complains start because of a moderator (and the same one very often) it was never like this before.
And after one or two abuses from a mod, other ones who were very discret before in their moderating start now doing some abusive acts too ..... they would be stupid to not doing it, they saw it works with others .... now mods can do what they want !

Because, Peter, you say "They are free to use their own judgement when moderating"
- in this case for example, it's 1 mod's judgement against some persons who want to discuss this subject ...... so, what can we do ? we have to discuss this subject somewhere else because of 1 person ? mod or not ?

And when a mod post a reply to someone in a locked topic, this person can't reply .... is this fair ? she just open another one .... then people complain about her, what was the other possibility for her ? doing it by pm ? why the mod didn't show the example then ? after a few errors, there's nothing to do against the mod from the posters ?????? it's not fair.

I think it's all a matter of chosing the mods and when there are too much it's always a problem, because people on the forum don't know who is going to read what they post and how they will interprete it ... it's all about their different judgement, so the more they are, the more opinion there is ....
What Goose would leave could be locked by Sambo Chris for example, it's a bit like a roll of a dice ...... we don't know if our post is going to be approved or locked or whatever, it's not fair anymore here, maybe a moderator's judgement changed something in the usual moderating on jt.

Anyway you know what i think already .... But do you understand when i say since a bit of time we don't know anymore what will happen on jt due to the mods (just 1 or 2 !) ?
Other forums where there are just 2 or 3 mods who have the same ideas, you don't see all these problems, simply because there is one "politic" not even strict, but you know it, it's like that and you know mods or the webmaster have approximatively the same idea of moderating, it's clear for everybody. No bad surprises, no abuses, no fights. T
hat's what i see on others and now when you open jovitalk you can wait for 1 or 2 posts everyday about complains or a fight.
And how many times it was about a moderator abusive his power ? how many times ? too much times ! It's very often the beginning of a fight.

Some here don't know there are moderators for moderating, not for punishing people who don't have the same ideas of their by locking or deleting the post.

Then it's such a coincidence that all topics I made concerning were deleted while you didn't respond to any of them. And you were repeating yourself again and again by keep on deleting the topics.

The funny part about that statement is that lately there have only been three mods for the most part. Everyone else has been busy. Chris usually takes care of General which leaves Goose and myself to do Everything Else. We do need more mods so there can be other opinions and things aren't just left up to two people. What you guys don't see are the numerous PM's we get, complaining. Just remember that there are two sides to every story. Your side, my side and somewhere in between lies the truth.

I think this would actually be the fairest thing to do. There seems to be a lot of complaining lately and maybe this is the way to go, maybe it is also an idea to appoint 2 moderators per forum, that way if one isn't on the other might be, in addition to the omnipresent moderators, this might lighten the load somewhat.
I also am quite surprised that (maybe I'm reading this wrong) that there doesn't seem to be a guideline to what is appropriate behaviour, as in what should be deleted, locked or deemed offensive. I think that it is not fair that just because someone doesn't like a topic subject that it can be deleted, unless of course there are profanities in it.
Not sure what is the best way forward, but there obviously seems to be some tension here and maybe a voting system would be the best way forward.
