Well i don't think any stalker intension want to be mean in first place or is it?. Whatever, if u feel that person is stalking u, then its better idea to get rid of him/her..

I agree with you that people should just say that they are busy. Unfortunately, not everybody is sensitive enough to 'get it'. So, the block feature might be vital in some cases.
Yes block feature is best option, especially when u had enough of that person and got nothing further do with him/her.

hmm, that is a bit harsh, don't you think? I agree that no stalker ever thinks they are doing anything wrong or hurtful, but I have lots of patience before I get rid of friends

nope, in that case I'd just remove the person. I am very selective of who is on my messenger to begin with, so I don't think I'll get into that situation. Blocking is useful only for the people that don't understand busy signs lol.

and sometimes I will be available to talk to certain people and not others... no bad intent whatsoever, but if my best friend needs to talk, I'll be here - but I won't be having any conversations about the weather --- difficult concept for some

I'm with Becky here. I have a 15 year old daughter who has a million IM friends - and most of them know me. If they see I'm online they want to chat and sometimes when I'm at my computer I just want to work.
I never used the invisible feature on this board until last fall when the file sharing forum mess got so intense. A certain person who shalll reman nameless would send nasty pms if I was visible. I finally resorted to logging in as invisible for awhile until the flap died down.
