Talking about good song lyrics, they did have their moments in this decade. Just listened to "Last Man Standing": incredible. Same goes for "Novocaine". I also really like "Two Story Town". If they only would pull off more in that manner...

What a load of ****ing idiots here.

He posted an astonishingly juvenile post, ranting on about how people could not include what songs they want in their "worst lists".

I objected to the labelling of Jon's singer/songwriter attempts as well written. Sure, you can think they are, but really they're nothing but rehashes of songs by Jon's heroes (some of the 'old music' that it's apparently bad to listen to according to The Walrus, more on that later). For instance Joey has music taken from Elton John and lyrics taken from Bob Dylan and Elton John. Sure, everyone rips people off (as a fan of Oasis, I'm no stranger to bands I like borrowing off other artists), but that doesn't make the song particularly well written, does it?

From here on, this is mostly directed at Bang_A_Drum:
Music is my main interest, you could say my passion, so of course I take it seriously. One of the few things I do. Everybody's Broken too simple for me? Nope, I have no problem with simple music, do you really think Oasis are complicated? You did say that Summertime was well written, be it lyrically. I personally think it has appaling lyrics.

The Walrus - I'll stop listening to the best music ever made then. Just pretend the 60s/early 70s didn't exist. And that's bullshit anyway...I listen to many bands who surfaced from the 80s onwards including The Smiths, Ride, The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, Suede, Pulp, Blur, Ocean Colour Scene, Nirvana, The Verve, Ryan Adams, The Coral, The Hold Steady, The Prodigy, and of course, Oasis. And that's only a few anyway. Sure, most of them are influenced by older music. That doesn't mean they're not modern. I'm not going to start listening to modern "r'n'b" or tuneless metal.

I don't give a **** if you people don't like me. I just want to get my point across and say my opinions, and if that makes me a downer then so be it.

Peace out.

Are you still trying to be funny, or do you confess to being a prick who critizises others taste in music?

Ooh, we're so scared, you don't give a ****, huh? You're really missing the point of a message board. It's not a place for you to tell others what and how to think. You're not sharing your opinions, you're putting opinions of others down. And that's stupid and you deserve to be critizised for it.

I'm not sure where I might have said that you have to stop listening to that stuff, I said not everyone has to like the same type of music you do. It's like you consider it a personal insult if they don't or something

Yes I am. You can be scared if you want to be scared to be honest, as I said, I don't care. When was I trying to be funny?

I'm not going to confess to "being a prick". If you think I am a prick then fair enough, cool with me. What times have I put people's tastes in music down? Bang_A_Drum posted his opinions, and I didn't say anything like "You like Everybody's Broken, and thus you have shit taste". He appeared to be forcing his opinions upon JerseyboyUK, and my post was more a (probably un needed) defence of the aformentioned usuer's post.

And if you're still off at me for saying "I can't believe I'm on a forum with a load of bloody a-ha fans" or something, then you need to learn to take a little joke. That wasn't a criticism of anyone's tastes, I don't like a-ha, and I'm sure you don't like many of the bands I like either. It was merely a little lighthearted (not particularly funny, of course, but hardly offensive) quip. I don't understand how anyone could take it so seriously.

I'm obviously fighting a losing battle here, so I apologise to anyone I've offended (not that I can see why). If you don't like my posts, or you think they're all totally serious, ignore me, simple as that. I'm allowed to post my opinions, and I respect yours too.

Thank you.

There's a big difference between getting your opinion off and coming off rough on someone becaues you REALLY believe it. It's like your screaming "MY OPINION IS BETTER BECAUSE I LIKE MUSIC MORE". There's nothing wrong with backing up your opinion but putting down others to make you look extra right, come on. Just saying.

Me, personally, there are tons of '00 songs I like more than '80's, jovi wise. Why? Relevancy. I can relate to a lot more of the current songs wheras Social Disease does nothing for me. Does this make me right? No. I'm not wrong either, it just fits my lifestyle and I am cool with anyone who thinks different. The point was you're flying off the handle, yelling your thoughts out where it could have been avoided if you just said your peace and let it be that. Whatever.

About every single time you post something. It's really easy to see, looking at your post history. Calling people "****ing idiots" for liking something you don't is just the tip of the iceberg.

"****ing AWFUL post" and "****ing idiots" come pretty close.

No, he wasn't. He was discussing how he felt.

Like I said, it's only the tip of the iceberg. I looked at your posts and it confirmed my gut feeling. You've been badmouthing people for liking stuff you don't since you came here.

You can't see how calling people "****ing idiots" is offending?

You're allowed to post your opinions, but you don't seem to respect anyone elses, no matter what you claim. If you respect someone's opinion, you don't call them names or question their tastes. I haven't seen you respect one opinon that differs from yours.

I didn't call them ****ing idiots for liking something. I called them ****ing idiots for badmouthing me for not liking something.

Again, that's not about people's tastes. That's the posts themselves.

As was I.

Out of interest, can you give me a few examples. If I badmouth someone it usually stems out of an argument, although to be fair on you, sometimes those arguments do come out of my/their opinions.

Alright, fine, that is. If you get offended easily. I don't think anyone who has posted in this thread is geniunely stupid.

I think you're taking my posts to seriously, really. I respect everyone's opinions here. What I don't respect is how people put them across.
