In 2000, Jon said the box set was being worked on to mark 20 years, which is why it will be out in 2004. It's not to mark "100 million." The whole idea of it being to mark 100 million is because he joked that they were going to call it "100 million fans can't be wrong."
Not true, they've said several times it was to celebrate their 100 million album sales.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan
that is correct. becky, you just posted a richie interview in which he spoke at great length about it.

Well even so... They reached 20 years this last summer... I don't feel it is right to celebrate 20 years if it really is going to be 21 and a half years. So really, I feel like it's to celebrate 100 million albums. That's the feel I will have when it comes out.

Depends how you look at it. If we talk in terms of their recording career (and that's how the industry looks at careers), then they will reach 20 years in Jan. 2004 since Bon Jovi came out in Jan. 1984.

They were talking 20 years together. As far as I know.

It's a very hazy statement. What was implied behind it? Did they mean the moment they met each other? Or, the moment they got together as a band? Or, the moment they got signed? The moment their first record came out? Maybe something else?

IMO it would be logical to count from the moment Bon Jovi came out. Esp. considering the fact that Jon first was signed as a solo artist and then formed the band.

When they came together as a band was what I am talking about and I really only see that one as a logical answer.

Dear people, is this discussion really about how many years exactly in what country they exsist? Let's all be happy TLFR is finally released, we've been waiting for this for so long. It's just like when OWN was released, I heard complains everywhere that there should be other songs on the album. Can't we just be satisfied?

Um... Not to bust your bubble... But this isn't about This Left Feels Right.. This is about 100 Million Albums and the Box Set, etc... Originally this topic was about having 100 Million Albums. Then someone turned it into the discussion about having it earlier and so on. I brought the box set in somewhere because I heard people awhile back talking about it being released in accordance to 100 Million Albums.
