Default 16 Year Old Plays Acoustic Guitar Cover of "Livin' on a Prayer"

Hi everyone,

My name's Matt Wong, I'm an instrumental guitar artist from New Jersey. I started listening to Bon Jovi right about when I started playing guitar when I was 6, and I finally got around to making a cover of "Livin' on a Prayer". I would really appreciate it if you checked it out - let me know what you think!

Matt

Nice rendition, you play fingerstyle very well. But there's a recurring mistake you make in the B-section, where the lyrics would be "to what we got". There are a couple of notes that are not right, not even in the right scale.

Also, at "Livin' on a prayer" the melody is supposed to go down with "a pray-" being the lowest notes. Your version doesn't do that.

Other than that, nice work!

Sorry, couldn't resist. Just like everyone else on this board, your playing is better than what Richie's coming up with lately. But seriously, good job!

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Dude,
This is why you'll always continue to be a complete ****ing moron. Seriously bro, how old are you now? And you still think shit like that is funny?

Not only is that offensive but he's from a younger generation, grew-up in NJ, likes Rock N Roll and his name is Matt, so he doesn't even fit the stero-type that you're referring to in that picture.

Thanks for checking it out and for the pointers. I'm always changing the way I play the covers at my shows, so I'll make sure I give this one a bit more attention.

Wow! That was really good. I've been playing guitar since I was 15 and I still suck! I certainly could never do that.

Good one. I personally feel it's a tad too fast, though. Especially in an acoustic arrangement, the song benefits from some additional breathing room. The vocals also do some runs you didn't include (it's actually do-o-ocks, but you played one note) - try playing it slower, you'll be able to play around with the melody a bit more.

The rhythmic clapping is great, but like Ice said, the melody in the prechorus is off. Great use of dynamics in the solo too.

Ok, thanks for the tips. I'll keep them in mind while I'm re-working this for my show.
