I knew that would have led there. LOL I won't go into what I think about "This Left Feels Right" and the feedback it got, but I think the difference here is that, judging by Jon's words, these songs were born differently, they got their rearrangement before even seeing the light of the day. The band's obviously not very proud of them. But hey, if the idea of a new arrangement is too much for some people, maybe they should just go plain acoustic, like Jon actually suggested. What could possibly go or be wrong about it? That's how songs are born anyway.

I'd love it if they did a proper acoustic album or tour. They did a lot of acoustic promo shows in 1992 and they were fantastic and Jon did a lot of acoustic promo shows for Destination Anywhere that were superb. The acoustic performances are among my favorites. I'd really rather listen to an acoustic set than an electric one most of the time.

I would love an acoustic tour in smaller venues but I don't see it happening. Back in 2003 it was feasible - their voices were still quite good. Now though - not so much

I agree, this is has always been my favorite. I was so pissed at the Borgata TLFR show when Jon said that they had never played BTBMB acoustic before (or that was the first time acoustic, something like that). I should go listen to the recording to see exactly what he said.

It was the Yokohama acoustic show (unless he said it at Borgata too) he started it with "And now for the first time ever done, Born to be my baby acoustic" or something. Still way wrong.

You must be right because I have been listening to the Borgata and I haven't heard it. Damn - I must be losing it if I can't remember the minutia LOL

Jon says this kind of shit a lot. "We haven't played this one in a long time . . . " And it was played the previous night. LOL.

He probably simply didn't remember the acoustic version of BTBMB. To be fair, he was mentally screwed up and burnt out at the time of the New Jersey album and tour. He's said several times that it's a blur to him and if he could change something it would have been to actually taken the time to enjoy that period of his life.

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4

I have a question for anybody who knows. Jon here talks about the intention of playing an acoustic rendition of "Hardest Part Is The Night" during the Slippery When Wet Tour. I tried looking it up on YouTube, but to no avail. Did that ever happen?
Thanks for posting these links. Even though I have seen this interview, always good to read again. Interesting that back in 1986/87?? when this interview took place, the reporter described Jon as he could be described in 2013 (give or take)

Part 3, first column/paragraph.

This was from before Slippery was released yes?

The reporter was bang on the money about a load of this fair play. And yeah, he pretty much sums up Jon too, at least what we know of him.

I have 2 questions though.

Who was the guitarist talking smack about the band?

And are the stikkas still available?

Apparently, the article was from the September issue of "Kerrang!", but the journalist probably wrote it a few weeks before. "Slippery When Wet" was released in the same month in the UK, so either it had just been released or was just about to be. It's likely that only the single "You Give Love A Bad Name" had been released by then.

I'm curious about the guitarist too!
